We’re seeking an Experienced Residential AV Field Technician to install, service, and support smart home systems in luxury homes. This role requires a well-rounded technician comfortable working across AV, networking, automation, and more—with a strong focus on craftsmanship, reliability, and customer experience.
Responsibilities
• Install and configure residential AV and smart home systems: multi-room audio/video, home theaters, lighting control, shades, and networking.
• Work with systems such as Control4, Elan, Savant, Lutron, Sonos, surveillance systems, and more...
• Perform structured cabling, wire terminations, testing, and documentation.
• Build and wire AV racks with professional cable management and labeling.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across AV, IT, and control systems.
• Interpret technical drawings, floor plans, and wiring diagrams.
• Collaborate with team members, project managers, and trades on-site.
• Provide client training and ensure smooth hand-off with strong customer support.
• Maintain detailed service logs and equipment documentation.
Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in residential AV installation or smart home technology.
• Proficient with AV distribution, lighting control, IP networking, and surveillance systems.
• Strong understanding of system integration, signal flow, and basic networking (routers, switches, access points).
• Ability to work in attics, crawlspaces, and tight spaces as needed.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; professional appearance.
• Must be detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently or in a team.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
• Certifications from Control4, Elan, Savant, Lutron, or similar.
• Experience with Ubiquiti or other home networking brands.
• Basic IT or networking certifications (CompTIA, etc.).
• Low-voltage electrical experience a plus.
